About The Position

The Senior Accountant ensures proper classification and reporting of accounting transactions primarily in the areas of IT Accounting, Month end close, Accruals, and Reconciliations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Corporate Financial Instructions. While handling inquiries and resolving issues for both internal and external customers, the Senior Accountant identifies and recommends process transformation opportunities. Provides business process knowledge in their respective areas to ensure the accounting systems deliver timely and accurate information in accordance with business process design. The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 annually. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location. This position is remote in Richmond, Virginia.

Requirements

  • Four-year undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience, with a solid understanding of GAAP
  • Experience in Oracle required
  • Experience working in a compliance environment
  • Strong collaborator with customer service-oriented focus
  • Key skills include analysis, judgment, organization, communication, initiative, and a passion for achieving success

Responsibilities

  • Lead the IT accounting for Corporate Support centers
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of prepaid IT expenses, monthly amortization, and general ledger accounting within the scope of the Corporate Support team.
  • Perform routine accounting activities including journal entries and other month-end close activities related to IT accounting, monthly prepaid IT expense schedules, and General accounting.
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and audit support schedules as assigned, as well as month end global reconciliation of consolidated intercompany activity.
  • Assist in the audit and maintenance of process documentation and policies to ensure accuracy, effectiveness and reliability of the established financial controls.
  • Provide information, transaction support, and perform other accounting activities as needed.
  • Identify, recommend, and participate in the implementation of process improvement opportunities, at times leading such implementations.
