About The Position

Join Vanguard’s Corporate Accounting Operations (CAO) team as a Senior Accountant and play a critical role in how the firm records, analyzes, and reports its global expenses. This position sits on Vanguard’s Global Expense team , a high‑impact group responsible for ensuring expenses across multiple financial statement line items are accurately recorded in compliance with U.S. GAAP and international accounting standards . The team’s work directly supports external financial and regulatory reporting, tax reporting, and internal evaluation of business performance . In this role, you’ll partner closely with stakeholders across the business to understand complex transactions, assess accounting implications, and translate activity into clear, supportable financial results. You’ll be a key contributor to month‑end close , strong internal controls , and meaningful analysis of business performance , helping ensure Vanguard’s financial statements are accurate, transparent, and decision‑ready. Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ related business experience.
  • Financial accounting experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Finance or Accounting degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all corporate accounting close activities for assigned functional areas.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Be responsible for processes around analysis of domestic and international business operations and obligations to ensure accurate recording of financial position.
  • Assist in the preparation and communication of monthly financial results to management.
  • Identify issues independently.
  • Lead efforts to research issues, develop recommendations, resolve complex issues, and implement changes.
  • Design, recommend, and implement internal control procedures that ensure proper recording and reporting of financial position and prevent significant errors in accounting records.
  • Support external auditors during annual audit.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
