About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to support the accounting operations of a fast-growing, multi-entity cannabis organization. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, strengthening internal controls, and helping ensure compliance within a highly regulated industry. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes and regulations. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to identify issues and drive solutions independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting fundamentals
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting preferred
  • Retail, inventory, manufacturing, distribution, or cannabis industry experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or ERP systems preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Lead assigned portions of the month-end and year-end close process
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances and unusual activity
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Assist with preparation of internal financial reporting packages and management analysis
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP
  • Compile weekly AP payment runs and manage vendor relationships.
  • Support accounting for inventory, cost of goods sold, fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany activity
  • Assist with retail sales reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and payment processor activity
  • Review coding accuracy and help ensure consistency across departments, locations, and entities
  • Support sales tax filings, 1099 reporting, and other compliance-related accounting activities
  • AP invoice entry
  • Help maintain accurate and audit-ready financial records within a highly regulated environment
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
  • Assist in developing and documenting accounting procedures and SOPs
  • Support internal and external audit requests, regulatory reporting, and financial reviews
  • Participate in implementation and optimization of accounting systems and reporting tools
  • Partner with operations, inventory, procurement, marketing, HR/payroll, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and external vendors/partners
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to staff accountants and accounting support personnel as needed
