As a key member of the Finance and Accounting team, the Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing advanced accounting services to the organization, leading monthly and quarterly financial reporting initiatives and mentoring junior accounting staff. This role will work closely with the Finance team to provide strategic support for internal customers such as the Operations and Account Management teams, serve as a technical accounting resource across the department, and report to the Regional Controller. This is a hybrid position with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 5 years' accounting experience
  • Advanced financial acumen with demonstrated problem identification, analytical, and resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to explain complex accounting concepts
  • Self-motivator with the ability to work independently and lead others
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with ability to adopt a flexible, hands-on approach aligned with strategic direction
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with accounting systems and month-end/year-end close processes
  • Travel or service industry experience
  • Experience with Agresso, Central Command, Globalware, Trams, and/or TravCom
  • Experience with financial analysis and forecasting tools
  • Mentoring experience in an accounting function

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or progress toward certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee day-to-day general ledger accounting functions including month-end/year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Process general ledger entries and adjustments into systems to record financial transactions; review and approve entries from junior staff
  • Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, proactively research variances, and obtain timely resolution to clear discrepancies
  • Perform comprehensive financial statement analysis and review for accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Lead the preparation of workpapers and supporting documentation for annual financial audit to ensure an unqualified opinion
  • Serve as primary technical accounting resource and liaison for accounting staff and department managers on complex issues impacting financial reporting
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff on accounting principles, processes, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial, accounting, and company initiatives
  • Identify and provide recommendations for process improvements and operational efficiencies; implement approved changes
  • Oversee preparation and recording of client invoicing; ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms
  • Reconcile client and enterprise credit cards; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Participate in special projects and financial initiatives as assigned
  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
