About The Position

Join ATCO’s Common Group Accounting team as a Senior Accountant and play a key role in turning complex financial data into clear, decision-ready insights. You’ll lead monthly and quarterly management reporting and variance analysis for shared Common Groups costs, while acting as a go-to resource for managing and reporting data across multiple financial systems. You’ll also contribute to special accounting and reporting initiatives that help strengthen how we measure, understand, and communicate performance across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Accounting or other related degree
  • Canadian Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 7+ years of experience in complex corporate accounting or financial management environment
  • Experienced working with large enterprise financial systems, preferably Oracle Fusion
  • Advanced Excel skills and application (pivot tables, formulas, graphs, etc.)
  • Strategic budgeting and forecasting expertise
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills and produces accurate, high-quality work while meeting tight timelines
  • Able to work independently with sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Highly motivated to learn, and takes initiative to advance business knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Work as a business partner to provide Common Group leaders and cost center owners support to interpret financial results and develop forecasts and budgets
  • Collect and record the annual budget and monthly financial forecasts
  • Complete month-end journal entries; recurring/ad hoc reconciliations
  • Prepare analysis and reconciliation of accounts
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to Common Group leaders consolidating total Common Groups costs into a single suite of presentations and reports
  • Document and continually improve accounting and reporting processes
  • Manage large datasets used to support management reporting, while maintaining data integrity and output accuracy
  • Act as a subject matter expert on managing and reporting financial data from multiple databases
  • Be a key resource in preparing and supporting regulatory applications
  • Be involved in analysis and reporting of special projects
  • Effectively communicate accounting policies/procedures to non-financial personnel, including guidance on GL coding
