About The Position

The Senior Accountant takes ownership of complex customer billing, reconciliation, and invoice review in a fast-paced print manufacturing environment. The role calls for accuracy, curiosity, and practical problem-solving, including investigating discrepancies, tracing their sources, determining what should have happened, and correcting underlying issues. The position works with job coordinators, purchasing, and sales teams to prepare accurate, timely invoices for business forms and election customers. It is designed to expand into broader accounting responsibilities, including month-end processes, account reconciliation, financial review, internal controls, and potentially Controller-level responsibilities for the right candidate. Role development is organized into three phases, with monthly progress reviews until expectations are successfully mastered, after which reviews are annual. Phase 1 focuses on billing, job reconciliation, discrepancy investigation, customer requirements, and understanding how operational activity flows into the accounting system. Phase 2 expands into balance-sheet reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, revenue analysis, audit support, process improvement, and internal controls. Phase 3 involves increasing responsibility for the general ledger, close process, financial reporting, accounting procedures, and oversight of accounting functions. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer for accounting functions and assists the local office manager with accounting-related matters as needed. The role also assists the Coordinator Lead in checking that department’s accounting work before invoicing. The work involves extended periods of sitting, regular keyboarding and operation of office equipment and telephones, and moderate lifting up to 10 pounds. Overtime and weekend work may be needed.
