About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of selected entities, including independently preparing basic financial statements. This role plays a key part in month-end close through the preparation and posting of journal entries, completion of bank and credit card reconciliations, and maintenance of accurate general ledger records. The Senior Accountant also provides strong support through ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis, producing schedules, variance explanations, and tailored reports for internal stakeholders. Strong Excel skills are required, as the role relies heavily on data analysis, reconciliations, and report preparation. Requirements

  • University undergraduate degree with a major in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience (full-cycle/GL accounting or accounting firm experience)
  • Advanced/strong Excel proficiency is mandatory (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
  • Bilingual (French & English), written and spoken
  • Strong attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy
  • Strong work ethic; able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently; self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset; willing to support others as needed

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle accounting for select companies, including maintaining accurate general ledger records and supporting schedules
  • Prepare bank reconciliations independently and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Manage billing and cash collection activities for selected entities, including preparing billing applications, issuing invoices, applying receipts, monitoring outstanding balances, and following up on discrepancies
  • Record required adjustments including month-end accruals, journal entries, and corrections to general ledger allocations
  • GST/QST monthly filings
  • Prepare basic financial statements independently (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and supporting schedules); identify and investigate variances as needed
  • Prepare regular and recurring reports as requested for both internal and external users
  • Support year-end activities, including preparation of working papers and responding to auditor/government audit requests
  • Prepare Notice to Reader supporting documents annually
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested independently
  • Provide analytical support by summarizing trends, explaining variances, and assisting with management reporting
  • Support the preparation of management presentation materials (e.g., slide decks)
  • Provide tailored analyses to meet stakeholder needs
