About The Position

Psycho Bunny, a refined and bold apparel brand, is seeking a Principal Accountant to play a pivotal role in optimizing its global financial operations. The ideal candidate will be process-oriented, detail-minded, and collaborative, aiming to build seamless and scalable operations. This role involves leading month-end closes, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring the financial foundations are as robust as the brand's growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation (or in progress).
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in retail or a dynamic corporate environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills (data modeling, complex formulas, manipulation) and knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear information for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Excellent command of accounting principles, inventory management, and retail-specific financial practices.
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • Bilingualism: Professional proficiency in English and French (written and spoken) to support global and interprovincial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process from end-to-end, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
  • Manage the preparation and timely filing of all Canadian tax filings.
  • Support the implementation of accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with management to identify and implement efficiency gains, with a focus on automating bank reconciliations and payroll entries to the general ledger.
  • Analyze P&L results and compile balance sheet reports to provide strategic insights to senior management.
  • Liaise with operations and management teams to resolve accounting issues and support data-driven decisions.
