About The Position

SHARE Family & Community Services is seeking a strategic, hands-on Senior Accountant to join their team in the Tri-Cities. This role is an opportunity to be a financial architect for a non-profit organization that changes lives daily. There are two positions available, both supporting the agency’s financial operations, with one position having a primary focus on the 43Housing Program, including financial oversight, reporting, and systems management.

Requirements

  • A CPA designation in good standing with CPA BC.
  • 3+ years in financial management, ideally within the charitable or not-for-profit sector.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian NPO accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to build cohesive, high-performing teams and a culture of continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Housing sector or property management experience is a definite asset.
  • Experience working with Arcori Housing system is an asset.
  • Ability to make financial data accessible to non-finance colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and variance reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial controls and accounting policies in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards.
  • Deliver comprehensive financial oversight for the Housing program, including rent revenue tracking, subsidy reconciliations, and the preparation of monthly financial and program specific performance reports.
  • Reconcile Housing systems databases with general ledger records and dedicated 43 Housing bank accounts to guarantee the accuracy, completeness and audit-readiness of all housing financial operations.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure audit readiness of all financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with all funder reporting requirements, regulatory bodies, and internal policies.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies to leadership.
  • Maintain housing-related financial data within system databases to meet strict audit, regulatory, and funder compliance standards, specifically overseeing tenant receivables and subsidy reporting.
  • Track revenue and expenditures related to grants and contracts.
  • Support program staff with budget development for proposals and reporting on restricted funds.
  • Ensure proper allocation of funding and adherence to restrictions and timelines.
  • Provide specialized financial management for the Housing program, overseeing operating agreement compliance, subsidy allocations, and complex rent-geared-to-income (RGI) calculations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support finance staff team.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and strong customer service within the finance team.
  • Supports the development and implementation of efficient financial systems, integrations, processes and practices.
  • Serve as a finance liaison to other departments and support program managers in financial literacy and planning.
  • Participate in cross-departmental projects and organizational initiatives requiring financial oversight.
  • Act as the primary finance partner to the Housing leadership team, translating complex financial data into actionable insights to guide program strategy operational orientations and decision-making.
  • Work in collaboration with the Director of Housing to manage capital planning, funding allocations, and facility maintenance budgets.
