About The Position

The Senior Accountant – Attest leads public accounting engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, including audits, reviews, and compilations. The role bridges field staff and managers by owning file execution, financial statement preparation, and client communication while ensuring compliance with AICPA, GAAP, and GAAS standards. The position includes planning and completing attest engagements, preparing financial reporting materials, mentoring engagement staff, identifying accounting and internal control issues, communicating with clients, and monitoring engagement budgets and deadlines.

Requirements

2 to 5 years of recent experience in a public accounting firm, specifically within an audit or attest department.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; the 150-hour requirement must be met or close to completion.
Active CPA license or actively pursuing the CPA exam.
Deep understanding of GAAS, US GAAP, and modern audit software.
Strong project management skills, analytical thinking, and ability to articulate complex accounting issues to clients.

Responsibilities

Plan, execute, and wrap up complex attest engagements, including audits, reviews, and compilations.
Prepare financial statements, footnote disclosures, and management letters in accordance with GAAP.
Train, mentor, and review the work of staff accountants and interns on engagement teams.
Identify internal control weaknesses and accounting issues, and propose practical solutions to engagement managers and clients.
Serve as a primary point of contact during fieldwork, managing timelines, requesting deliverables, and resolving testing questions.
Monitor engagement progress against budgeted hours and deadlines to support profitable delivery.
