About The Position

The Senior Accountant supports and directly contributes to all accounting and finance activities for Western Protective Solutions. They will work to support the ongoing operational needs of the accounting department. This person will bring their skills and experiences and a creative problem-solving approach to the team. This position is assigned to Western Protective Solutions located in Eugene, Oregon and will report to the Controller.

  • Working frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).
  • 4-year degree in Accounting, or 2-year degree with experience and demonstrated competence in application of accounting principles.
  • Firm understanding of GAAP principles, including internal controls
  • 5+ years industry experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience with a comprehensive ERP

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPA, CMA a plus, not required
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment/cost accounting or public accounting preferred, not required

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile GL accounts and post journal entries
  • Intercompany Balancing
  • Prepare financial statements in coordination with Controller and Chief Financial Officer
  • Credit Card Reconciliation
  • Reporting, Filing, and Paying Sales Tax in multiple jurisdictions
  • Credit management per established policy
  • Support treasury functions through banking activities
  • Partner with Management to support robust process development, enabling growth
  • Design and support process changes which enable a faster month-end close
  • Support annual audit
  • Electronic document control
  • Backup Accounts Receivable – Invoicing, Collections, and taking customer calls
  • Internal audit – assist ISO compliance efforts by participating in internal audits of operational tasks
  • Provide administrative support to finance and executive teams as needed
  • Support projects and other roles within the accounting department through reciprocal cross-training
  • Keep workplace clean, tidy and in good condition.
  • Other duties as assigned.
