About The Position

The Senior Accountant is a senior-level position responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, overseeing month-end and year-end closing activities, and providing financial insights for strategic decision-making within the healthcare practice. This role requires advanced accounting knowledge, the ability to lead process improvements, and a high level of analytical skills to interpret financial data. The Senior Accountant will work closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 1 year in a senior accounting role, ideally within a healthcare or regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, with experience in financial reporting, audit coordination, and compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, financial modeling, and automation of reports).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information clearly to senior leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance a plus.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, MBA) a plus.
  • Experience in QuickBooks accounting software preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare finance and familiarity with healthcare-specific regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience in forecasting and budgeting and/or other financial planning & analysis work preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing and approving complex journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the general ledger and the chart of accounts, ensuring consistency and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
  • Provide guidance to junior accountants on account reconciliation and problem-solving.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and trend reports to support management in strategic decision-making.
  • Compile data and insights for executive summaries and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process, including forecasting and collaborating with department heads on budget planning.
  • Review aging reports, optimize cash flow management, and implement improvements in billing and collection processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare regulations, and internal financial policies.
  • Prepare documentation for and coordinate internal and external audits, providing responses to inquiries and ensuring that findings are resolved.
  • Establish, evaluate, and improve internal controls and procedures to enhance accuracy and safeguard assets.
