Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Cost accounting and/or job costing experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with inventory accounting and operational analysis preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • CPA or CMA designation is a plus, but not required
  • Construction, manufacturing, or operational accounting environments
  • Job costing and equipment costing analysis
  • Multi-entity accounting
  • ERP/accounting software experience
  • Research sales tax laws and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare monthly journal entries including accruals, prepaids, and other adjusting entries
  • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations and account analysis
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations
  • Generate and distribute periodic financial and operational reports
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for external auditors
  • Analyze job profitability, equipment costing, labor utilization, and operational performance
  • Perform monthly job costing analysis and related cost transfers
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory balances and inventory activity
  • Evaluate operational costs and identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and profitability
  • Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Recommend process and policy improvements to reduce costs and maximize profits
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
  • Review and analyze potential investment and business opportunities for ownership
  • Serve as an internal resource for sales tax questions and guidance
