About The Position
Ohel is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support strategic decision-making and ensure compliance. The role combines technical accounting expertise with knowledge of nonprofit financial requirements to maintain fiscal integrity and support Ohel’s mission. This is a full-time position located in Far Rockaway.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- At least 2 years of accounting work experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Working knowledge of accounting software, such as QuickBooks or ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit tax rules, and compliance requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Accounting experience in a nonprofit setting.
Responsibilities
- Track and report grant and contract expenditures, ensuring adherence to funder requirements.
- Prepare expenditure reports and monitor grant reporting deadlines.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to program leadership.
