Your Impact The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process, preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements. This position works under the Director of Accounting and may also assist with tasks such as tax preparation, auditing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (Required)
  • Minimum of 7 years in accounting, budgeting, and financial data analysis
  • Minimum of 3 years of proficiency in QuickBooks Online (Required)
  • Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, or wholesale required; Cannabis industry experience highly desired
  • Advanced understanding of GAAP, multi-entity ownership structures, and intercompany transactions
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Able to acquire a Facility Agent Card through the State
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • A self-starter with a high sense of urgency and superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders in both written and verbal forms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive financial records, including the general ledger, account analysis, and monthly reconciliations
  • Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring all activity is supported by valid documentation and attachments
  • Reconcile bank statements for all entities in a timely manner and according to established deadlines
  • Manage intercompany accounts, specifically reconciling "Due To/Due From" accounts and making necessary correcting entries
  • Lead daily cash management, including preparing daily cash balance reports and recording/researching banking activity for accuracy
  • Oversee the AP cycle, ensuring proper expense categorization, GAAP compliance, and vendor database accuracy
  • Manage the AR process, ensuring wholesale invoices are accurate and issued timely
  • Monitor collections by creating weekly AR reports for management and corresponding with customers regarding past-due balances
  • Ensure all new partners are properly set up in the accounting system
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll spreadsheets and enter associated Journal Entries
  • Oversee the year-end 1099 process, including preparation, review, and submission each January
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation for quarterly and annual external audits
  • Proactively initiate process improvements by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes to increase efficiency
  • Collaborate with the Controller to review financial statements and identify ways to reduce costs or enhance revenue
  • Provide support and training to other accounting team members; cross-train with the Billing Accountant to provide backup coverage
