About The Position
The Senior Property Accountant manages full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of mixed-use residential assets. The role supports accurate, timely, and strategic financial oversight through journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and investor communications. The accountant collaborates with Property Managers, senior leadership, and external partners, bringing a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to the work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 3–5 years of property accounting experience, including at least 3 years in real estate.
- Experience with mixed-use properties.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting best practices.
- Proficiency in Excel and property management systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Commercial property accounting experience.
- Experience with Yardi.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly general ledger close and prepare journal entries for assigned properties.
- Perform and review bank reconciliations and analyze and reconcile balance sheets.
- Compile financial statements and provide reporting for Controller review.
- Manage monthly and quarterly property-level reporting.
- Prepare deposits and weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Assist with annual budgets and reforecasts.
- Reconcile vendor statements and customer payments.
- Track and report job costs and project-related expenses.
- Partner with Property Managers on billing, collections, and variance reviews.
- Respond to financial inquiries from executive leadership, investors, and lenders.
