About The Position

Markstone, a leader in professional landscaping for over a decade, is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting functions. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the company's financial information. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, with a significant emphasis on monthly and year-end closing procedures, performing reconciliations, and maintaining reliable financial records. This is an execution-focused position for a detail-oriented and organized individual who is adept at resolving issues to ensure accuracy.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (required)
  • Strong experience with month-end close and reconciliations
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Full Cycle Accounting: 3+ years (required)
  • Month-End Close: 3+ years (required)
  • Reconciliations: 3+ years (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and consistently.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting records.
  • Lead and complete the monthly close process on a timely basis.
  • Support year-end close and preparation of working papers.
  • Ensure all balances are accurate and properly supported.
  • Perform regular bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain clear supporting documentation and audit trails.
  • Ensure invoices are issued accurately and on time.
  • Reconcile revenue to underlying activity and identify any issues.
  • Work with internal teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Review financial results for accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify unusual items or variances and investigate root causes.
  • Support basic reporting and provide insights where needed.
  • Perform job costing analysis.
  • Keep accounting processes structured, consistent, and well-documented.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Help maintain a clean and reliable accounting foundation.
