About The Position

Christ Fellowship Church is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team. This role oversees core general accounting functions, guides leadership through monthly financial analysis, manages the capital requisition process, and leads the annual audit. The Senior Accountant will also drive key process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to use accounting skills to directly support kingdom work and strengthen the church's financial stewardship and strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • A vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, an active attendee at a local Christian church, and alignment with the mission and values of Christ Fellowship Church.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5 - 7 years of accounting and/or audit experience, with a focus on church or ministry organizations preferred (public accounting or corporate background welcome).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform high-quality, detailed work with minimal supervision within assigned deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance ministry leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a proven track record of driving process improvements across teams.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation preferred.
  • experience with Sage Intacct and Prophix is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and/or review general ledger entries accurately and timely.
  • Perform and/or review reconciliations of various accounts within the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and GAAP.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage capital expenditure requests and construction project reporting.
  • Work closely with other departments to provide reports, financial insights, and support.
  • Participating in special projects and helping develop and maintain financial systems and policies.
  • Coordinate annual audit between the finance team and the external auditing firm.
  • Participate in other “life of the church” events, such as Infuse, Christmas, and Easter.
  • Be available for an occasional, flexible work schedule for after-hours or weekend assignments.
