About The Position

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial operations and reporting. This position is responsible for overseeing complex accounting functions, including general ledger management, monthly and annual close processes, financial reporting, and compliance with internal controls. The Senior Accountant will also provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff and assist with audits and strategic financial initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and financial reporting responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience in Sage Intacct and AP platforms such as Stampli.Bill.com preferred).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent analytical, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in non-profit environments is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), non-profit reporting standards and organizational policies.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations, various schedules to support general ledger balances and financial statements.
  • Process client program fee rent receipts in an accurate and timely manner (which includes monitoring residential census, maintaining client billing accounts receivables, and depositing of client payments).
  • Interact with employees and vendors to ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures regarding cash receipts/accounts receivable.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, prepaid expenses, and amortization schedules.
  • Support annual financial audits and state single audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation.
  • Support and backup for the Client Account Administrator position.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulation.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support the fiscal department's goals.
