About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing financial statements, performing account reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. This role works closely with operational departments, management, auditors, and regulatory agencies to support accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with ERP and accounting systems.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, HMO, insurance, or managed care environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of statutory accounting and regulatory reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post complex journal entries.
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Research and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Monitor aging schedules and outstanding balances.
  • Assist with preparation of statutory and regulatory filings.
  • Support annual audits, examinations, and financial reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and internal controls.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Prepare financial analyses and management reports.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities impacting financial performance.
  • Support departmental cost analysis and expense monitoring.
  • Review and approve vendor invoices and payment requests.
  • Assist with review and approval of ACH and other electronic payments.
  • Monitor cash activity and support treasury-related functions.
  • Develop and enhance accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with implementation of accounting system enhancements and automation initiatives.
  • Mentor and assist junior accounting staff.
  • Participate in special projects and management initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
