About The Position

The Senior Accountant - Revenue and Reporting will be responsible for analyzing monthly net patient service revenue, performing contractual allowance calculations, and preparing monthly revenue net down journal entries. This role involves revenue analysis, assisting with contractual allowance models and revenue reserve methodologies, and collaborating with Revenue Cycle and Finance teams. The position also requires reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing financial reports, maintaining reconciliations between subledgers and the General Ledger, and assisting with annual audit schedules and cost reports. Additionally, the role involves preparing and coordinating Medicare and Medicaid cost report supporting schedules, assisting with regulatory reports, and supporting reimbursement audits and inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of accounting or financial analysis experience required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data analysis.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality required.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Prior healthcare accounting, reimbursement, hospital finance, or revenue cycle experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital reimbursement methodologies, contractual allowances, and net revenue accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly net patient service revenue, perform contractual allowance calculations, and prepare monthly revenue net down journal entries.
  • Perform revenue analysis and provide explanations for monthly and year-to-date budget-to-actual variances.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating contractual allowance models and revenue reserve methodologies on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle and Finance teams to investigate reimbursement and payment issues.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including patient accounts receivable reserves, contractual allowances, and other revenue-related accounts.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, schedules, and supporting workpapers for management review.
  • Maintain monthly reconciliations between the EPIC accounts receivable subledger and the General Ledger, investigate and resolve variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
  • Prepare and coordinate Medicare and Medicaid cost report supporting schedules.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of regulatory reports, including HCAI reports and other reimbursement filings.
  • Support reimbursement audits, desk reviews, and governmental agency inquiries.
