About The Position

As an Operations Accountant, you’ll ensure accurate and timely accounting for metal and freight related activities, support month end close and perform variance analysis. You’ll work cross functionally with plant operations, procurement, and finance to drive financial accuracy and visibility across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably cost accounting in a manufacturing or inventory-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or similar ERP systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and multi tab reconciliations models.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross functional environment.
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven with strong problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Voucher and validate metal receipts and resolve non receipts, pricing discrepancies, or purchase order mismatches.
  • Coordinate with vendors and plants to resolve incorrect Advance Shipping Notifications.
  • Communicate and resolve payment discrepancies with Procurement and metal suppliers.
  • Prepare and present metal price variance analysis for customer pass-through.
  • Complete monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, including for rebates, tariffs, freight, and metal in transit.
  • Process all mill and vendor claims, lead collections, and compile monthly reports for executive review.
  • Review, accrue, and investigate monthly freight invoices and discrepancies.
  • Enter metal coil receipts for outside processors.
  • Set up and revise standard costs for steel coils and support ongoing cost accounting improvements.
  • Perform utility invoice reconciliation and publish analysis to plant teams.
  • Support ad hoc projects and collaborate across the Operations Accounting team.
