About The Position

Copia is seeking a Sr. Accountant, Operations to support all aspects of accounting for operational projects, including payables, receivables, monthly reporting and other ad-hoc analysis. This role sits at the intersection of accounting, asset management, and commercial operations, ensuring accurate financial results, timely payments, and clear visibility into project‑level performance. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, is able to extract accounting considerations from complex renewable energy contracts, and the ability to partner cross‑functionally with multiple stakeholders in a fast‑growing environment. This role requires an accountant ready to take ownership of operational processes and serve as a primary point of contact for operations and Portfolio Finance teams. The Sr. Accountant, Operations will report directly to the Director, Corporate Finance working closely with Copia’s asset management, energy markets, legal and finance teams in an individual contributor capacity.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years professional experience, preferably in the renewable energy industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel
  • Experience with accounting ERP such as NetSuite, a plus.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Ability to work in the Salt Lake City, UT office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with accounting ERP such as NetSuite, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Creation, implementation, and execution of revenue and O&M processes to manage risk and monitor the health of the processes.
  • Create processes to ensure revenue is recognized appropriately and in accordance with our revenue recognition policy.
  • Work with vendors and Treasury to coordinate monthly O&M payments.
  • Ensure payments are made in accordance with contractual terms and our internal payments policy.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies, standardizing processes, and implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency and controls.
  • Provide timely and accurate critical monthly financial reporting to management and tax equity sponsors.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis.
