About The Position

ERMCO is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets & Capital Expenditures to serve as a technical resource for fixed asset accounting and capital project financial management across the organization. The role bridges day-to-day accounting execution and advanced individual-contributor responsibilities by independently managing complex transactions, performing higher-level analysis, strengthening documentation and controls, and providing guidance to business partners and less-experienced team members. It works closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Shared Services, Internal Controls, and other stakeholders to support accurate asset records, appropriate capitalization, reliable capital project reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policy. The role has no formal people-management responsibility. The position is hybrid in Bristol, Wisconsin, and relocation assistance is available. Responsibilities include managing fixed asset accounting activities; supporting capital planning, project execution, and closeout; preparing reports and controls documentation; responding to audit requests; improving processes and systems; and providing technical guidance to colleagues and business partners.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting concepts, capitalization principles, depreciation methods, and account reconciliation practices.
  • Ability to independently research issues, analyze complex transactions, document conclusions, and communicate recommendations clearly.
  • Experience executing or supporting internal controls, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and responding to audit requests.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage recurring deadlines, multiple priorities, and cross-functional relationships in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite and with fixed asset or asset-tracking software.
  • Experience with capital budgeting, forecasting, project reporting, or construction-in-progress accounting.
  • Experience with process improvement, system implementation, shared services, or multi-location accounting.
  • Ability to influence outcomes, provide practical guidance, and lead work across functions without formal authority.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly fixed asset reconciliations, investigate root causes, and resolve subledger-to-general-ledger differences.
  • Coordinate assigned fixed asset inventory and verification activities, investigate exceptions, and prepare required record updates.
  • Review non-routine transactions, recommend accounting treatment, and escalate complex or judgmental matters to management as appropriate.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and project teams on capital planning, project execution, and closeout.
  • Monitor capital project spending against approved budgets and analyze variances, unusual activity, aging projects, potential overruns, and changes to expected costs, timing, or capitalization.
  • Review project costs and documentation to determine accounting treatment and capitalization eligibility under U.S. GAAP and company policy.
  • Support annual capital budgeting, forecasting, and portfolio reporting, including preparing and validating project-level data.
  • Coordinate project closeout and asset placement-in-service, confirming final costs, asset components, locations, and useful lives.

  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements; support property, plant, and equipment reporting and disclosures.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement approved improvements to data quality, documentation, controls, reporting, and recurring activity efficiency.
  • Support ERP enhancements, system implementations, testing, and process documentation updates related to fixed assets and capital projects.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, job aids, reconciliation standards, and other documentation to promote consistent execution.
