The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations, while actively identifying inefficiencies and developing innovative solutions to streamline processes. This includes preparing journal entries, assisting with treasury functions and bank reconciliations, preparing financial analyses and assisting with the maintenance of fiscal records. This role is based in Brentwood, TN.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 2-4 years of experience in related accounting roles
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Spectrum/ Viewpoint experience a plus) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively internal teams.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to accounting and operational challenges

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and/or CPA certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring day-to-day transactions such as accounts payable, cash receipts and accounts receivable, credit card transactions, and payroll are recorded properly.
  • Performing timely and accurate month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate.
  • Ensuring proper revenue and expense recognition.
  • Monitoring cash balances and performing cash flow forecasting and reporting.
  • Ensuring all finance and accounting operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate cross departmentally to resolve billing/invoicing discrepancies and disputes.
  • Performing fiscal year-end close activities and assisting with activities and requirements of external auditors.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology.
  • Developing and documenting standardized procedures where none currently exist.
  • Managing competing priorities in a fast-evolving environment.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
