About The Position

The Senior Accountant will perform operational, transactional and technical accounting activities in accordance with established policy, procedures, and objectives. Responsible for adherence to quality control standards – both corporate and industry directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office environment, including but not limited to Teams and Word
  • High proficiency in Excel
  • 3-5 years full cycle general ledger accounting experience
  • Strong Financial accounting and analytical skills
  • Planning/organizing – prioritize and plans work activities and efficient time management
  • Confidentiality - Maintain confidentiality, remain open to others' ideas and exhibit willingness to try new things
  • Oral communication – the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrates group presentation skills.
  • Written communication – the individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.
  • Problem solving - Individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully and maintains confidentiality
  • Quality control – the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Adaptability – the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Ability to complete job tasks and assignments in the required time frame.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a desire to learn the relationship between financial drivers, metrics and reporting

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Knowledge of captive insurance entities, including premium activity, reserves, and regulatory reporting considerations
  • Knowledge of Excel Power Query

Responsibilities

  • Complete monthly journal entries
  • Review and approve journal entries
  • Review and approve cash disbursements
  • Perform full cycle month-end close functions in Agency and ERP systems
  • Reconcile balance sheet and other accounts monthly and as needed
  • Run monthly close reporting
  • Meet strict deadlines
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Ensure all support for transactions is processed and filed accurately and timely
  • Prepare submission of documents as required by established controls
  • Assist with the calculation of ASC 606 / ASC 944 monthly and quarterly entries
  • Analyze results to verify accuracy of financial package
  • Build courteous and successful relationships with various office staff to maintain efficient practices.
  • Promote teamwork, support, knowledge sharing and a positive attitude in the department and office.
  • Participate in training opportunities to remain current on industry information, new product development, legislation, coverages, and technology including professional development and continuing education.
