About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking a Senior Accountant or Accounting Project Manager to join their SEC Reporting team. This role offers high visibility and growth potential within the company. The position can be filled at either the Senior Accountant or Accounting Project Manager level, with specific duties outlined for each. The role involves assisting with the preparation of quarterly and annual footnote disclosures for SEC registrants and subsidiaries, preparing GAAP financial statements, and developing relationships across departments to gather financial reporting information. The candidate must be able to analyze and review information, problem-solve, manage competing priorities, and contribute to innovation and process improvement. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to understand technical GAAP/SEC guidance, are critical. The Accounting Project Manager role will also focus on unique events, complex transactions, evaluating compliance with GAAP/SEC guidance, and supporting capital market transactions, acquisitions, and dispositions. This position offers a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking).

Requirements

  • Senior Accountant: 5+ years of general accounting experience or 4+ years of public accounting experience
  • Accounting Project Manager: 6+ years of general accounting experience or 5+ years of public accounting experience
  • A Master’s degree can count towards as one year of related experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements.
  • Ability to show ownership over tasks assigned, seeing items through from start to finish with relative independence.
  • Ability to contribute innovative ideas and process improvement suggestions and see those changes through to implementation.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and able to learn new systems.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • SOX experience is preferred
  • Active Disclosure system experience is preferred
  • Energy industry experience or experience with financial reporting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of financial statements and disclosures for potential inclusion in Form 10-K/Q, other SEC filings, and other applicable reporting requirements.
  • Create and maintain appropriate supporting documentation to ensure compliance with applicable internal control requirements.
  • Review information prepared and/or provided by others for inclusion in various filings.
  • Analyze compliance with disclosure requirements.
  • Evaluate disclosure requirements related to Dominion Energy’s business events.
  • Review XBRL associated with certain SEC filings.
  • Routinely coordinate with various teams within Dominion Energy, such as segment accounting groups, corporate accounting and investor relations, as it pertains to financial reporting needs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare disclosure options for a given situation and provide recommendations to management.
  • Conduct complex assignments and analysis supporting external financial reporting and/or financial reporting controls.
  • Advise project teams on specific accounting and internal control issues relevant to business and organizational events.
  • Routinely coordinate with various other Dominion Energy groups, including finance, legal, environmental, human resources, credit risk, revenue reporting, regulatory accounting and asset management.
  • Support filings made with the SEC, including investor relations and capital markets, as applicable.
  • Prepare executive summaries of key financial reporting information.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
