About The Position

Rystad Energy is seeking a Senior Account Manager to focus on retaining and expanding relationships with existing clients, particularly within the financial sector (Investment Banks, Investors, Energy Companies, and Governments). The role requires exceptional account management and expansion generation skills, with experience in solution selling. The candidate will be supported by global client-facing research analysts and product specialists. Key responsibilities include managing existing client relationships, identifying opportunities for user adoption, leading renewal cycles, articulating value, negotiating terms, and introducing new products/services. The role also involves designing outreach programs, presenting company offerings, understanding client needs, representing the company at industry events, maintaining CRM records, collaborating internally, providing product feedback, and managing activities to meet annual sales targets. Travel is expected nationally with occasional international trips.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of Account Management experience
  • Financial sector experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree is required
  • Negotiating with procurement and/or senior management
  • Selling research, software or consulting services
  • Account management best practices and expansion generation skills
  • Experience with energy-focused data and software sales related to energy supply analysis, modelling, screening and valuations
  • Goal oriented self-starter that can work independently, as part of a team and pull in resources as required
  • Building value propositions for our databases based upon specific personas and company types
  • Experience in selling subscription services is highly desirable
  • A strong existing network and the ability to quickly and effectively build new networks
  • Using standard Office tools and CRM systems
  • Sales pipeline management and robust forecasting
  • Effective Value Storytelling
  • Willingness and Eagerness to Learn Research and Tools
  • Excellent Time Management Skills
  • Travel 25% minimum expectation

Responsibilities

  • Assume management of existing client relationships
  • Identify and execute opportunities to expand user adoption within each client organization, driving deeper platform utilization.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with senior stakeholders, expanding the company’s executive‑level network.
  • Lead renewal cycles by articulating value delivered, negotiating improved commercial terms, and introducing additional products, services and advisory offerings.
  • Design and implement an outreach program in connection with our Marketing team
  • Present the company, our research and services in person and web conference
  • Understand the core needs of each client and build an effective value proposition
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to elevate brand visibility and cultivate new relationships.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all client interactions, opportunities, and activities within the company’s CRM system.
  • Communicate internally with research, sales colleagues and management on activities and results
  • Provide feedback and suggestions on product enhancement and new product ideas
  • Ensure new products and services are on-boarded properly
  • Manage the right activities to deliver on an annual sales target
