About The Position

The Senior Academic and Career Advisor is responsible for managing the staff and daily operations of a designated WCJC campus and providing academic, career and transfer advising services. This includes recommending appropriate course selections based on student educational goals, identifying programs at the College that meet students goals, building short and long term academic plans for students, assisting students with career readiness or transfer planning, and developing, assisting and facilitating student success programs at the College. The Senior Advisor works as the manager on their respective campus, provides peer advice to other advisors on staff, and assists the Director with administrative responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) years of experience in academic, career, or transfer advising, counseling, or development in a college environment
  • Skills in interviewing and advising students
  • Superior organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with database information
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to create and conduct presentations to large and small groups, both in person and virtually
  • Ability to deal extensively and effectively with a wide variety of individuals requiring excellent interpersonal skills, listening skills, and communication skills in order to assist students in achieving their academic goals
  • Ability to provide continuous courteous customer service to students, parents, the community, staff, and administration
  • Criminal background check required
