We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, supportive, and proactive Teaching Assistant with relevant experience of working with children with additional needs either on a 1:1 or small group capacity. Experience of working within a secondary school setting is desirable, however primary experience from Year 5 upwards would also be considered. This rewarding role will involve providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS3 pupil with Special Educational Needs. Working in close collaboration with the class teacher and the Head of Learning Success, you will be involved in creating and adapting resources and study skills to assist the pupil accessing learning. Experience of supporting ASD would be desirable, with ELSA training, or a willingness to undertake the training being essential as you will be supporting the pupil develop socially and emotionally whilst also encouraging and developing independence. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a passion for supporting children with SEND to access learning across the curriculum and understand the importance of an individualised approach and positive relationships. Clear communication, a collaborative approach and commitment to supporting the pupil through their secondary education (proactively undertaking any CPD identified in the role) will be assessed at interview, with a clear understanding of their safeguarding responsibilities will also be expected.
