Requirements
- Experience as a Trailer Technician, Trailer Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Fleet Technician, or similar role
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience in trailer repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of brake systems, suspension systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and DOT requirements
- Ability to use shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding/fabrication tools
- Ability to lift, move, and work with heavy equipment and trailer components
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to a safe work environment and regulatory compliance
Nice To Haves
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Previous experience in the transportation, trucking, or fleet maintenance industry strongly preferred
- Experience working with multiple trailer types (dry van, flatbed, reefer, utility, etc.) strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced shop environment
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues on trailers
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and routine trailer servicing
- Repair or replace brake systems, suspensions, axles, landing gear, and wheel-end components
- Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems, wiring, and electrical components
- Complete frame, body, and structural repairs, including welding and fabrication
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all work meets regulatory and company standards
- Use diagnostic tools, equipment, and repair manuals to identify issues
- Document all repairs and maintain accurate work orders in the maintenance system
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair needs
