About The Position
Are you passionate about basketball and making a positive impact on young athletes? Join our team at the Beaverton YMCA, one of the premier basketball facilities in Oregon, as a Semi-Competitive Basketball Coach for our Fall 2026 Developmental Basketball League. This is a seasonal position with the potential to grow into a permanent part-time or full-time role.
Requirements
- Previous coaching or youth sports experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and game play
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to motivate and manage groups of young athletes
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
- Must pass YMCA background check
Nice To Haves
- Experience in other sports or youth activities is a plus
Responsibilities
- Teach fundamental basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, defense)
- Plan and conduct engaging, development-focused practices
- Provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback during games
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive team environment
- Monitor player development and provide constructive feedback
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
