About The Position

The Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies seeks a Lecturer to teach three courses in the Spring 2027 semester. The Lecturer prepares syllabi and course materials, holds office hours, grades assignments, submits grades by deadlines, and communicates regularly with students.

The role also supports undergraduate recruitment efforts. This includes mentoring and supporting the department’s inaugural cohort of two undergraduate student ambassadors, developing materials and procedures for future ambassador activities, and working with the department’s recruitment team to update recruitment materials, represent the department at recruitment events, and visit undergraduate classes.

Requirements

• Master’s degree.

• Doctorate degree in Women’s, Gender, or Sexuality Studies or a relevant field by the time of appointment.
• Prior classroom teaching experience.
• Prior familiarity with the department and undergraduate program.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Meet scheduled classes and office hours in accordance with university policy.
• Implement curriculum and prepare courses in accordance with department standards.
• Prepare homework and exams, evaluate student work, and return it in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and submit the final grade roster by established university deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
• Support undergraduate recruitment and outreach, including representing the department at recruitment events and engaging with prospective students.
• Mentor and support undergraduate student ambassadors, and develop materials and procedures for ongoing ambassador activities.
• Prepare syllabi and course materials, hold office hours, grade assignments, and communicate regularly with students.
