About The Position

The Self Pay Collector works with patients/family members to secure payment of all self-pay balances including deductibles and/or copayment amounts, and maintains Upfront Cash detail report.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Investigation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year related experience in health care self-pay collections required.
  • Have the ability to deal with diverse and stress related situations in a calm manner.
  • Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective oral and written communication and guest relations skills required.
  • Must have good organizational, computer technical skills and the ability to set priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Obtaining required income documentation and forms for patients who qualify for Charity/Indigent Care.
  • Makes necessary phone calls and generates letters to patients and/or family members for any self-pay balances.
  • Takes an active role in attaining and maintaining accounts receivable and assists in reviewing/selecting accounts to be placed with outside collection agencies.
  • Secures patient valuables in accordance with the established Policy and Procedures.
  • Maintains production and accuracy necessary to meet established monthly collection goals
