About The Position

LCMHA (Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority) provides or manages a full array of services to adults and children with mental health and/or emotional disturbances, persons with substance use disorders, and persons with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to create a path to resilience, recovery, wellness, and self-determination for these individuals. The Self-Determination Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all administrative functions related to self-directed arrangements while ensuring compliance with Medicaid requirements and Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) regulation. This role serves as a liaison between families, staff, and Fiscal Management Services (FMS). Key responsibilities include issuing and tracking agreements, developing and monitoring budgets, coordinating with Financial Management Service (FMS), Employer of Record (EOR), and LCMHA staff, as well as creating and overseeing educational materials and training programs for EOR's, families, and LCMHA staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field is required.
  • Two years of experience with a Community Mental Health agency or similar publicly funded agency, preferably with self-determination.
  • Experience with contract management functions/agreements, preferably with self-determination agreements.
  • Possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Administers self-directed arrangements on behalf of LCMHA by monitoring agreements, budgets, documentation, and compliance with Medicaid and MDHHS requirements.
  • Trains LCMHA employees by creating/updating training materials to ensure alignment with MDHHS regulations and policies.
  • Provides education to consumers and their families regarding self-determination principles, roles, and responsibilities within self-directed arrangement.
  • Consults with LCMHA employees and assist with problem-solving related issues.
  • Develops and updates procedures, policies, or standards in accordance with MDHHS requirements.
  • Reviews and monitors agreements to ensure compliance with policy and agreement requirements.
  • Coordinates and assist with budget formulation while monitoring Medicaid compliance.
  • Ensures service documentation meets established standards.
  • Meets with consumers and their families in the office, at consumer's home or in the community, per consumers preference.
  • Services as the primary point of contact for self-directed arrangements and coordinates with the Financial Management Services (FMS).
  • Manages the development and coordination of quality assurance processes for the ongoing evaluation of self-determination and related initiatives, including leading performance improvement initiatives.
  • Represents LCMHA at regional and state meetings.
  • Ensures adherence to MDHHS standards and requirements.
