About The Position

We are looking for a Seed Technician to focus on setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing production. This role involves operating machines and equipment, adjusting factors such as temperature, pressure, flow, and material reactions, and manually controlling or operating units via a control system. The position also includes cleaning and decontaminating equipment, maintaining workplace housekeeping, driving forklifts, conducting routine analytics and taking samples, coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs, and documenting and communicating work results during shift handovers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of IT (Internet, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, or facilities with systems)
  • Valid Drivers’ License. To be eligible to drive a company car, your driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers – MVR will be reviewed as part of pre-employment screening
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. (a bag of seed)
  • Ability to work days, nights, rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Operating machinery / equipment for production processes and, where applicable, managing our production grower network
  • Ensuring that production processes happen safely, effectively, and with quality in alignment with general procedures of the area
  • Mentoring / training new employees, performing basic maintenance of equipment, and handling basic activities in Bayer systems (SAP and electronic networks)
  • Demonstrating Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach (VACC) behaviors to ensure accuracy, quality and timely delivery of products
  • Operating equipment and executing tasks to enable seed production processes
  • Leading and engaging in Daily Direction Setting (DDS) meetings; articulating shift objectives and allocating resources across all active production areas
  • Demonstrating collaboration and teamwork in coaching / training seasonal workforce, area trainees, and peers; contributing to overall team success and the personal development of teammates
  • Performing preventive maintenance and inspections
  • Troubleshooting problems associated with equipment, processes, and systems
  • Applying operational excellence practices to operations (5S, Lean, Six Sigma, 5WHYs)
  • Performing Site Responsible Researcher (SRR) duties ensuring adherence to stewardship processes and protocols that are completed accurately and timely. This includes field monitoring, grower communication and accurate documentation
  • Ensuring upstream activities (e.g., field inspection, grower contract) are handled within company standards and business requirements
  • Collaborating with key partners to deliver the business across plant and field operations
  • Complying with internal procedures and supporting legal compliance related to area activities
  • Demonstrating knowledge of and adherence to Bayer’s Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards
  • Supporting administrative procedures, documenting key readings, maintenance orders and production information
  • Delivering other responsibilities as the business needs
  • Driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned to the individual), which may include driving greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle OR being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties – regardless of mileage.
