About The Position

Great Lakes Crop Care is seeking talented individuals passionate about agriculture to join their team as a Seed Sales Account Manager. This role is responsible for prospecting potential grower customers, serving as the primary point of contact, and building a portfolio of corn and soybean grower accounts. The position involves conducting agronomic consultations, preparing proposals, and identifying new accounts through networking and referrals. Territory management is a key aspect, requiring the development of growth plans, route planning, and maintaining accurate records in the CRM. The role also includes coordinating with internal operations for product delivery and monitoring market conditions. Field-level agronomic support is crucial, involving on-farm calls, providing recommendations, and acting as a first-call resource for growers facing challenges. Post-harvest evaluations and staying current on product registrations and crop science developments are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Business or a closely related field, or the equivalent combination of education and practical farm industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in agricultural sales, input retailing, or agronomic consulting.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive agricultural market.
  • Working knowledge of corn and soybean production systems, including common pest and disease complexes, weed management, and seed and crop protection product categories.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust with producers and translate technical information into actionable guidance.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record; ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
  • Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, digital communication tools, and standard office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) designation or active progress toward certification preferred.
  • Experience with precision agriculture tools, soil sampling platforms, or variable-rate fertility programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting potential grower customers.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for customers, building trust and delivering consistent, high-quality experience throughout the sales and agronomic support cycle.
  • Building and managing a portfolio of corn and soybean grower accounts within the assigned territory, with a focus on retention and seed wallet-share growth year over year.
  • Conducting structured agronomic consultations – from hybrid selection and seed placement – to position the right products at the right time.
  • Preparing and presenting customized product and program proposals; negotiating pricing within established guidelines.
  • Identifying and converting prospective grower accounts through networking, referrals, and field presence.
  • Developing territory growth plans that identify key customer opportunities, set measurable goals, and outline strategies to expand market share within the assigned geography.
  • Owning an assigned geography – planning routes and call cadences to maximize face time with high-priority accounts during critical agronomic windows.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records of account activity, pipeline, and competitive intelligence in the CRM.
  • Coordinating with internal operations to ensure on-time product delivery, accurate order fulfillment, and seamless customer experience.
  • Monitoring market conditions, competitor activity, and input pricing within the territory and reporting trends to leadership.
  • Managing territory expenses responsibly and operating within approved budget parameters.
  • Making regular on-farm sales calls and delivering timely agronomic recommendations tailored to each grower’s operation, cropping system, and production goals.
  • Serving as a first-call resource for growers facing agronomic challenges, providing practical solutions backed by current university and industry research.
  • Supporting post-harvest field evaluations to document product performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Staying current on product registrations, label requirements, application best practices, and crop science developments.
