  • Everbridge Monitoring & Briefing
  • Report Writing & Documentation
  • Crime & Incident Trend Analysis
  • Robodog Deployment Reporting
  • Operational Decision-Making
  • Watch Center Staff Support
  • Systems & Process Improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to workplace violence threat assessment processes or willingness to be trained in a recognized framework (e.g., WAVR-21).
  • Experience supporting critical infrastructure, utility, or large-campus security operations.
  • Familiarity with contract security operations (post orders, staffing compliance, vendor performance monitoring).
  • Prior training or mentoring responsibilities in a shift-based operations environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination and analysis of security incidents as they occur, verifying that documentation is accurate and complete, response actions are logged in real time, and all required follow-up actions (referrals, notifications, corrective actions) are tracked to closure.
  • Review and help coordinate the handling of workplace violence (WPV) incidents and threat assessments, ensuring proper documentation and routing to HR, Employee Relations, and Security Management per established protocols (e.g., WAVR-21-informed assessment).
  • Identify the safety hazard(s) each incident exposes — physical access, insider threat indicators, gaps in reporting or escalation — and track the corresponding mitigation (post order changes, access control adjustments, training, follow-up monitoring) through to implementation and verification.
  • Monitor Everbridge mass-notification and situational-awareness feeds, extract information with direct relevance to MWD facilities, staff, or operations, and prepare concise briefs for Watch Center leadership and SEMU management so that external events are translated into MWD-specific operational impact rather than raw alert traffic.
  • Prepare incident reports, shift/operational summaries, and performance assessments that support management decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain consistent reporting standards across shifts so incidents are comparable and searchable over time.
  • Analyze incident and crime-related data across all sources — Watch Center logs, WPV cases, dispatched calls, and technology-generated data — to identify trends, emerging threats, and operational vulnerabilities.
  • Produce recommendations that support security planning and resource allocation.
  • Review weekly robodog (autonomous patrol) reports from desert facilities and Lake Mathews and verify completeness and flag anomalies or coverage gaps.
  • Roll findings into the broader incident trend analysis so patterns detected by autonomous patrol are addressed with the same rigor as officer-reported incidents.
  • Track how identified trends (e.g., recurring perimeter activity, equipment faults, coverage blind spots) are being attended to — assigned owner, corrective action, and status — until resolved.
  • Apply analytical and critical-thinking skills to evaluate rapidly evolving situations, synthesize incomplete information, and provide sound recommendations to Watch Center leadership during high-pressure or escalating incidents.
  • Assist with daily administrative and operational functions, including resource coordination, scheduling support, performance monitoring, and adherence to established policies, procedures, and post orders.
  • Evaluate current Watch Center workflows and recommend improvements, best practices, and efficiencies that increase consistency and service quality, including how incident, robodog, and Everbridge data feed into a single trend-reporting pipeline.
  • Monitor that personnel maintain required qualifications, certifications, and training in accordance with contract standards; support staffing-requirement compliance and broader quality assurance efforts.
