About The Position

Allied Universal® is hiring a Healthcare Security Trainer. The Healthcare Security Trainer is responsible for the implementation of required training for security staff assigned to healthcare. This Trainer will partner with site Managers and Supervisors to ensure all security staff meet training requirements for the Allied Universal Healthcare Program, and client specific requirements. The Healthcare Security Trainer will also support accounts as requested by leadership to mentor and train Account Managers and work to improve problematic locations who need additional temporary oversight.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
  • Post hire, able to successfully complete initial and annual competency evaluations consisting of the following topics: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Blood-born Pathogen/Infection Control, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), De-escalation of varying platforms (CPI, Vistelar), Mental Health First Aid, Use of Force, Restraint Usage, Security Incident Response Procedures, CPR/Basic First Aid (required every two years)
  • Trainer certifications for state license trainer, CPR, CPI, Firearms, Handcuffing and other certifications as required or directed
  • Must successfully complete the following training courses. An * denotes annual requirements: Healthcare Essentials 3, Certified Healthcare Security Professional, Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor, Client Orientation and Security Incident Response Procedures
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in classroom instructor experience to include platform delivery of training to security or law enforcement personnel
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a protective service-related field (e.g., military, law enforcement, physical security)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital or other healthcare facility
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements for a contracted security force in a healthcare environment
  • Working knowledge of applicable accreditation standards and regulations impacting security programs in a healthcare environment to include CMS, Accreditation Standards (TJC/DNV/HFAP/CIHQ as appropriate), HIPAA, EMTALA, OSHA, and NFPA
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine root causes, and identify and determine results-oriented solutions
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written) to effectively communicating with patients, patient families, staff members and executives; drafting policy and training staff members
  • Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Administration, coordination, planning, development, direction, and implementation of the Security Training Program in accordance with our customer contract, agreed upon policy and accrediting and regulatory agencies
  • Serve as the immediate point of contact for all training matters
  • Develop and maintain the Healthcare Security Training Plan
  • Attend client sites to address training deficiencies, as directed
  • Maintain expertise in applicable security/training related subject matter
  • Know, adhere to, and enforce standards as listed in the Allied Universal Security Professional Employee Handbook and the Healthcare Standards and Guidelines Manual
  • Coordinate the establishment of competencies with the Account Manager and validate compliance of all security staff with contractual requirements as well as all applicable national, local and accreditation agency standards
  • Assist in the administration of JSA's and safety programs annually, outlining site-specific hazards for security officers on assigned shifts including vehicle / driving safety as appropriate
  • Conduct reviews and report outcomes of training requirements
  • Provide reporting and analysis of training compliance and requirements to the Account Manager(s)
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development of training related to security and the security program. Responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reporting effectiveness of training programs
  • Host healthcare virtual training course weekly for all new incoming healthcare officers
  • Build, improve, and maintain relationships with the client, client staff and employees as needed for accounts needing additional temporary oversight as directed by leadership; interface with client executives, physicians, client staff, patients, and visitors; handle any escalated security issues or emergency situations appropriately; ensure that employee grievances are escalated to the Account Manager.
  • Ensure communication of policies, announcements, and job openings through a consistently updated READ file at each healthcare site
  • Manage uniforms, equipment, and associated training supplies at the account(s), maintaining appropriate inventories and maintenance checklists
  • Travel 30% to locations
