About The Position

We are currently seeking a Security Threat Group (STG) Officer who has a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional, secure setting. The Security Threat Group (STG) Officer identifies and monitors offender groups and members who pose a potential threat to staff, inmates, the facility or the community. They also gather intelligence, maintain documentation and disseminate required intelligence information to appropriate partner or law enforcement agencies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of experience in a criminal justice field is required.
  • One year of corrections experience, including the care and custody of inmates/offenders is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of general correctional rules and regulations.
  • Specific contracts may require completing training, maintaining certification and the ability to carry firearms or chemical agents.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with investigative processes and interviewing techniques is preferred.
  • Experience with video/audio surveillance equipment preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office or other similar software applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily roster of STG members and monitors STG activity of validated members and suspects at the facility.
  • Conduct investigations of STG related incidents or STG activity. Gather information and evidence, in addition to interviewing and obtaining witness statements. Share intelligence information with authorized parties.
  • Follow standard protocols and procedures in identifying and documenting STG members and suspects by gathering intelligence, to include but not limited to, interviewing, monitoring phone calls, inmate mail, and reviewing video footage. Maintain chain of custody of all evidence and contraband according to policy and procedure.
  • Interview incoming inmates to assess STG classification and works with Unit Management team to determine proper housing and management of STG inmates. Regularly communicate and provide updates to Unit Management team on potential issues detected.
  • Assess risks by identifying procedures or facility activity that may create a security threat or unsafe environment. Recognize and maintain awareness of unusual or suspicious activity and evaluates or investigates to confirm or deny suspicions.
