About The Position

The Security Systems Technician is a hands-on technical resource supporting electronic physical security systems across the data center portfolio. The role reports to the Global Program Manager, Security Design and Integration; provides advanced technical escalation; coordinates service-ticket execution; validates vendor workmanship; supports the Senior Project Manager with security design and project delivery; and helps train peer technicians. This is a technical individual-contributor role with no direct reports; it does not own project budgets, schedules, personnel management, or formal stakeholder governance.

Requirements

  • At least five years of progressively responsible electronic security systems experience, including at least two years supporting complex, enterprise, mission-critical, or data center environments.
  • Advanced working knowledge of enterprise access control and video management systems; hands-on Lenel OnGuard and Milestone XProtect experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot across field devices, controllers, PoE networks, Windows endpoints and servers, virtual machines, databases, integrations, and client applications.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE, switch-port requirements, Windows command-line tools, logs, services, Active Directory concepts, and basic SQL queries.
  • Experience directing integrators or contractors, reviewing installation quality, reading drawings, and documenting deficiencies and acceptance results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, prioritization, and incident-management skills.
  • Ability to pass legally permissible screening and client-access requirements and to obtain or maintain any electronic-security registration or license required at assigned work locations, including applicable Virginia requirements.
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours support rotation, adjust hours for critical work, and travel regionally as operationally required.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule with three days per week expected on site in Virginia.

Nice To Haves

  • Lenel Certified Professional (LCP), or the ability to obtain the certification within an employer-defined period after hire.
  • Lenel Advanced Professional; Milestone Certified Integration Technician or comparable Milestone credential; manufacturer training in enterprise video, access control, networking, or life-safety system interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, inspect, diagnose, maintain, and perform authorized repairs or configuration changes for Lenel OnGuard, Milestone XProtect, associated servers, workstations, cameras, readers, controllers, intercoms, sensors, locks, alarm devices, and supporting network infrastructure.

  • Perform approved software, firmware, configuration, database, and device updates in accordance with change-control, cybersecurity, and client standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventories, configurations, drawings, credentials, service records, assignment instructions, and site documentation.
  • Provide limited desktop and security-application support for the DSOC when directly related to security operations or system functionality; route general corporate IT issues to the appropriate support team.
  • Coordinate daily service tickets across the technical team, support regional work assignment, verify timely acknowledgement, and follow tickets through accurate resolution within applicable KPIs and SLAs.
  • Serve as the escalation point for urgent and after-hours issues and participate equitably in the established after-hours support rotation.
  • Communicate incident status, risk, workaround, restoration, and follow-up actions clearly to client stakeholders, employer leadership, vendors, and support teams.
  • Maintain accurate technical coverage information, on-call calendar entries, and authorized system-access records; conduct or support quarterly access reviews.
  • Provide technical support to the Senior Project Manager for planned after-hours work, commissioning, cutovers, expansions, decommissions, and redundancy initiatives; project governance, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder management remain with the Senior Project Manager.
  • Conduct kickoff and quality-assurance site walks with integrators; inspect installations against approved drawings, standards, labeling, workmanship, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support development and technical review of CCTV, access-control, and security-cabling designs under the direction of the Global Program Manager, Security Design and Integration, and in coordination with the Senior Project Manager and applicable design authority.
  • Support security-network planning, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation in coordination with the responsible network team; follow approved architecture, cybersecurity, and change-control standards.
  • Verify and document installed equipment and capabilities before operational acceptance; identify deficiencies and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation and coordination resource for peer technicians without people-management or supervisory authority.
  • Create and maintain troubleshooting guides, system standards, onboarding materials, and knowledge articles.
  • Deliver onboarding and hands-on technical training, including initial shadowing and competency validation for newly assigned technicians.
  • Promote consistent technical practices and collaborate with security operations, design, construction, network services, the DSOC, and integration partners.
