About The Position

A Security Systems Technician at Johnson Controls is a troubleshooter and service expert responsible for alleviating customer concerns regarding security systems. This role involves advising customers and the customer care center on system status, performing inspections, and repairing or replacing security equipment such as burglar alarms, fire alarms, CCTV systems, and Card Access systems. The technician will work independently from a remote location with provided tools and equipment, focusing on providing the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues. As a trusted advisor, the technician will offer solutions and outcomes during service calls, including upselling opportunities and providing quotes for recommended solutions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience installing and inspecting/repairing Tyco Integrated Security or comparable product line.
  • Experience with Card Access/CCTV/IP cameras.
  • HIRSCH Certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Electrical/Electronic background.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Fire alarm experience preferred.
  • Some college preferred.
  • NICET II or greater preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair damaged equipment or wiring.
  • Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment, and test for operation.
  • Prepare trouble order forms to report temporary repairs.
  • Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.
  • Service and repair Commercial security/Fire Alarm/CCTV/Card Access systems.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency.
  • Identify and present upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
  • Advise customers and the customer care center of the status of systems.
  • Process inspections.
  • Repair or replace burglar alarms, fire alarms, CCTV systems, Card Access systems and other security equipment.
