About The Position

Siemens is seeking a Senior Security Systems Technician to join their Smart Buildings team in Raleigh, NC. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of buildings by installing, programming, starting up, and commissioning integrated security systems. The technician will work with CCTV, IP cameras, alarm sensors, access control devices, and software platforms. Additionally, this position involves mentoring less experienced technicians and serving as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their buildings and occupants remain safe. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of large-scale integrated security systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of network components and workstation and server operating system management.
  • Understanding of IP addressing and subnetting, IP video network transmission, and factors impacting video rates and quality.
  • Basic understanding of switch, router, and firewall principles.
  • Willingness and ability to work in various environments, including mechanical equipment areas, climbing ladders/scaffolds/high-lift equipment, working in ducts, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
  • Ability to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Ability to differentiate types/colors of wire.
  • Ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.
  • Meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED.
  • Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the installation and/or maintenance of large-scale integrated security systems.
  • Ability to read/understand design and construction documents.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, programming, start-up, and commissioning of integrated security systems (CCTV/IP cameras, alarm sensors, access control devices, software platforms).
  • Act as a mentor, providing on-the-job training to less experienced technicians.
  • Serve as the face of Siemens, interacting regularly with customers to ensure building and inhabitant safety.
  • Participate in Operational Testing, Verification, and Acceptance, including running routine reports, participating in final inspections, supporting customer acceptance, and assisting with customer training.
  • Complete and submit routine written reports.
  • Identify code and non-conformance issues and make recommendations for system installation.
  • Support the scheduling of trade contractors to coordinate start-up services as needed.
