About The Position

We are hiring a Security Support Specialist for Alpha House. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage of $18.00-$20.00/hour, depending on experience. The standard hours are 11 am-7 pm Monday-Friday, with flexibility required at times for transports and other needs. Alternatives provides a comprehensive one-week orientation and a subsequent one-week specialized training for the role, both from 9 am-5 pm Monday-Friday, before transitioning to the offered schedule.

  • Customer service skills to effectively interact with residents and staff
  • Ability to work with offenders and handle tasks such as transporting, restraining, and transferring them as needed
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to pass federal drug testing and a background check
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to be added to the Agency's insurance

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including Days, Swings, and Over-Night shifts, as we are a 24/7 facility

Responsibilities

  • Transporting residents as needed
  • Overseeing residents in the kitchen
  • Covering hospital duties
  • Overseeing residential clients and security functions
  • Organizing and monitoring the transport calendar, working cooperatively with medical staff to ensure residents' appointments are adhered to
  • Assisting residents and vendors entering or leaving the facility
  • Assisting with security and agenda checks, ensuring residents are accounted for
  • Performing daily interoffice mail delivery duties
  • Conducting security functions such as pat-downs, UA screenings, breathalyzers, and headcounts
  • Serving as role models of acceptable and expected behavior for the residents
  • Reporting and regularly communicating information to other team members
  • Writing notes and Incident Reports (IRs) for residents, positively reinforcing good behavior
