About The Position

Qualcomm Incorporated is seeking a Security Specialist to join their Facilities & Security Group. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of various security systems, including alarms, surveillance cameras, and access control devices. The specialist will conduct site surveys, configure system hardware and software, and troubleshoot issues to ensure proper operation. Responsibilities also include installing low voltage wiring, electronic locks, card readers, and CCTV cameras, as well as documenting all work performed. The role requires responding to emergency service calls, performing immediate repairs, and evaluating existing systems for potential upgrades or modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of Security or related work experience.
• Associate's degree and 3+ years of Security or related work experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of Security or related work experience.
• Completed advanced degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year (Master’s = one year) of work experience.

Nice To Haves

• Strong knowledge of CCTV, access control, intrusion alarms, and related systems.
• Proficiency with low voltage electrical systems and wiring.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Solid troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Familiarity with network infrastructure as it relates to security systems.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass background checks due to the sensitive nature of security work.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair security systems including alarms, surveillance cameras, and access control devices.
• Conduct site surveys to determine optimal placement of system components.
• Configure and program system hardware and software according to department needs.
• Test and adjust system components to ensure proper operation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, wiring, and software issues.
• Install and maintain low voltage wiring, electronic locks, card readers, CCTV cameras, and related equipment.
• Document all work, including installation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Respond to emergency service calls and perform immediate repairs when needed.
• Evaluate existing systems and recommend upgrades or modifications.
