About The Position

As the Security Specialist, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining all aspects of the personnel security program, reviewing DD 254s, and utilizing databases (e.g. DISS, etc.) to ensure the safeguarding of sensitive information and personnel. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in security management, personnel security, or a related role within a government or contractor environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Expert proficiency in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS)
  • Working knowledge of DD-254s
  • Expertise in personal security and risk assessment
  • Working knowledge of INFOSEC principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with physical and information security requirements
  • Proven experience in security management, personnel security, or a related role within a government or contractor environment
  • Strong knowledge of government security regulations (ICDs, DoD Manuals, NISPOM).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of security principles, risk management, and threat assessment methodologies
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with the administration of the Personnel Security System in compliance with DoD Manual 5200.02 and current directives from DCSA, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
  • Support the execution of established policies, procedures, and standards under the DoD Personnel Security Program.
  • Manage, update, and maintain government-provided personnel security databases such as DISS.
  • Organize and keep current personnel security records, including security questionnaires, résumés, OF-306s, SF-312s, clearance notifications, and foreign contact/travel documentation.
  • Ensure all forms and records are stored in accordance with federal records retention requirements and safeguarded in line with security and privacy protection standards.
  • Initiate and monitor initial and continuous vetting enrollments, as well as process position upgrades for staff through NBIS or DISS; collect and submit required fingerprint records for investigations.
  • Oversee in-processing and out-processing activities for both civilian and military personnel, and conduct, document, and properly archive required security debriefings.
  • Execute NATO security responsibilities in accordance with U.S. Security Authority for NATO Affairs (USSAN) Instruction 1-07 on NATO security requirements.
  • Deliver and document briefings and debriefings related to Critical Nuclear Weapons Design Information (CNWDI), Restricted Data, and Formerly Restricted Data, ensuring updates are reflected in personnel files and databases.
  • Compile and submit weekly activity updates and maintain accurate monthly statistical reports on key personnel security actions and initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.
