About The Position

Responsible for maintaining the security and safety of actively participating students and staff during the program operation, assisting with student transitions and coordinating the dismissal and transportation for the students transition home.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or vocational school training
  • At least one (1) year experience in armed security or sworn law enforcement assignment.
  • Ability to remain calm during a crisis.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • SBBC security training or Certification as an ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Out going personality enjoys speaking to people.
  • Dependable character with great attention detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
  • Innate ability in using good judgement to respond to emergencies or difficult situations.
  • The duties of these positions require moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature.
  • The following medical requirements apply to all applicants: good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to hear conversation voice.
  • Candidates must be able to endure physical exertion and running as needed.
  • Must be able to run, jump and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.
  • As a Drug-Free Workplace, all new hires must successfully complete a drug test. Please note Medical Marijuana cards do not exempt you from successfully passing your drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Patrolling of school interior and grounds during regular school hours or special assignments.
  • Responds to and/or supervises calls for service that may include burglary, criminal mischief, and minor investigations, disturbances or disorders on school district sites, truancy, etc.
  • Prepare required records and or offense reports and patrols on foot or by vehicle to ensure protection and security personnel, and school district-owned equipment, buildings, and or property.
  • Enforces school or site traffic and parking regulations and may perform routine personnel accident investigations.
  • Assist local law enforcement agencies as required or requested.
  • Coordinates with appropriate educational staff, custodial staff, and operating engineer staff on security and safety requirements and procedures (e.g. science la safety, trade/ industry shops, storage, and exterior security lighting.
  • Ensure sound visitor control procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Ensure compliance with life safety requirements.
  • Promptly reports loss due to theft, vandalism to risk management through the established procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures for all modular classroom, office and storage structures.
  • Report all incidents and accidents within 24 hours to the corporate office.
  • Adhere to the Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting requirements, which mandate by law all childcare personnel to report suspicions of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The YMCA requires employees to follow the internal reporting procedures with the assistance of the Program Managers
