About The Position

EVOCS is hiring a Security Site Engineer on contract for a client that builds and operates hyperscale data center campuses. The role is the hands-on technical owner of physical security systems at a campus, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management. These systems are lease-critical, and the engineer is expected to keep them operational and resolve faults on site the same day. The role also maintains accurate as-built documentation and supports readiness for customer security inspections. The engineer is expected to maintain, troubleshoot, and commission systems directly, relying on integrators for warranty or specialist work. The position covers day-to-day operations and maintenance, scheduled preventive maintenance, system health and capacity monitoring, fault diagnosis, installation and commissioning support during campus expansion, and documentation and compliance. The engineer works with Site Security, Construction Security, and Enterprise Security Architecture on standards, projects, and expansion scope, and ensures lease-driven and customer security requirements are met with supporting evidence maintained.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on electronic security systems experience covering access control, IP video, and intrusion detection.
  • Solid IP networking fundamentals and hands-on experience with cameras, readers, controllers, and edge devices.
  • Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, structured cabling, device configuration, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with enterprise access control and video management platforms; Genetec Security Center, Synergis, and Omnicast are strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of security system storage, video retention requirements, and health monitoring.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort working independently on a campus.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours or on-call support.
  • Ability to pass required background screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Data center, colocation, or other critical infrastructure experience.
  • Experience supporting security systems through construction, commissioning, and operational turnover.
  • Manufacturer certifications, such as Genetec or similar.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in electronics, IT, engineering technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control, video, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including health checks, firmware updates, storage verification, and camera coverage validation.
  • Monitor video retention, storage capacity, and system performance, and flag capacity or lifecycle needs in advance.
  • Diagnose and fix system faults on site.
  • Manage integrator warranty and specialist work when escalation is needed.
  • Support installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and turnover of security systems during each phase of campus expansion.
  • Work with Site Security, Construction Security, and Enterprise Security Architecture on standards, projects, and expansion scope.
  • Build and maintain as-built documentation, device inventory, configuration standards, and change records.
  • Confirm that lease-driven and customer security requirements are met and maintain supporting evidence.
  • Provide occasional after-hours or on-call support.
