Under general supervision of the Airport Security Assistant Manager, this role ensures that Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) gates, terminal and roving security patrols, and other designated locations are always properly staffed with the correct number of security officers required per shift. The position ensures that all security employees are properly trained and that employees adhere to posted procedures. This role involves supervising security personnel at multiple locations, scheduling employees for each shift, approving work schedule changes, training employees in accordance with established standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with Board and Department policies, state and federal regulations and the DFW Airport Security Plan (ASP). The Security Shift Supervisor also ensures security employees maintain daily logs, enters activity data into the system, selects, trains, counsels, disciplines and evaluates staff performance, monitors employees’ daily time and attendance, reviews reports and informs management of security violations and incidents, reviews, investigates and resolves customer complaints/issues, performs daily checks of field operations, communicates with various Airport departments, exercises command responsibility and accountability for operations, and completes and maintains accurate records and prepares reports. Additionally, this role coordinates all maintenance requests to ensure proper security of the AOA and the welfare of ASD personnel, and performs any other assignments as directed by the Assistant Manager and Manager of the division.
