About The Position

Performs duties directly related to facility operations to ensure safe, sanitary, and orderly conditions. Responsible for providing direct oversight and supervision of the resident population during an assigned shift, in accordance with policy and procedure requirements. Ensures proper implementation and compliance with company policies, procedures, processes, and standards in daily duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel (preferred).
  • Must successfully complete all security clearance requirements, including Criminal Background Investigation (TCIC/NCIC), Driver's License Check, and Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

  • Directs resident activities and establishes standards and procedures for work completion and quality.
  • Recommends plans, policies, and procedures for operations to Upper-Level Management.
  • Reviews operational reports prepared by staff and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares reports for Management, agency officials, or others.
  • Reviews operational components daily to ensure compliance with all operation procedures, standards, processes, and contractual requirements.
  • Acts as immediate supervisor of residential staff assigned to shift, providing direct supervision and guidance.
  • Ensures assigned operational staff perform duties and responsibilities in conformance with policy and procedural requirements.
  • Implements immediate corrective actions for discrepancies and provides guidance to subordinate staff.
  • Provides direct supervision to the resident population and reports suspicious activities or violations immediately.
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical and sanitary condition of the facility and resident living quarters, providing written documentation.
  • Reports and submits maintenance work orders for repairs, furnishings, and equipment relocation.
  • Periodically inventories supplies and equipment as assigned or required by policy.
  • Enforces security/safety/operational regulations and restrictions, establishing measures for access to classified material or restricted areas.
  • Performs accountability inspections and counts of the resident population.
  • Coordinates resident checkouts during approved times and documents departures and arrivals.
  • Completes all designated written documentation in a timely manner before the end of the duty shift.
  • Documents checkout of equipment, keys, and other items assigned to the monitor station.
  • Conducts resident urinalysis in conformance with policy and as instructed.
  • Participates with management in revising or updating security measures.
  • Facilitates open, constructive, and cooperative communications between operations staff and other divisions.
  • Keeps updated lists of all resident assignments, including housing, community service, and programs.
  • Conducts routine inspections of facility vehicles to ensure proper maintenance.
  • Maintains familiarity with existing and changing techniques, policies, and procedures.
  • Inspects and maintains facility fire protection.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or higher authority.
  • Asks residents to identify the gender of staff with whom they would feel most comfortable conducting a search upon intake, and conducts searches in accordance with the inmate’s gender identity.
